If you've been reading our blog, you know we've just gotten back from an amazing trip to Europe. MANMAKER SPORTS was out and about soaking up the culture and up-to-the-minute fashion trends as well as fashion scouting for fall! The trip itself was outstanding in many ways, but, it was not without 1 major challenge: how does one find herself in Italy and on doctor's orders NOT to eat any bread, pizza, pasta, cheese, or sweets? Say, whhaaatttt? That's right. We've discovered a "Gut" situation and it's not fun. If you're faint of heart, maybe stop reading now. If you want to know more, well, we'd like to share a little story in case it helps any of you reading. (Disclaimer: We are not doctors and do not claim to provide medical guidance, but we are sharing from experience and common sense.)
Recently, we've gotten to know a little bit about candida overgrowth in the gut. Unfortunate, to say the least. Overuse of antibiotics, coupled with under use of probiotics, can cause an imbalance and an overgrowth of the "bad" bacteria called candida in the gut. If you are prescribed antibiotics PLEASE ask your doctor for the best probiotic to take! It's SO important! In order to avoid any allergy look for a probiotic free of soy, wheat, gluten, and dairy. Klaire Labs has a great probiotic called "Vital- Plex" that we like very much. You've got to take your antibiotic and probiotic at least a few hours a part. Ask your doctor for specific instructions.
Why are probiotics so vitally important? Because an overgrowth of candida can lead to an array of physical issues ranging from mild to very severe. Our symptoms presented as persistent nausea and eczema. To counter act and kill the candida we are on an assault diet. This diet starves the candida by withholding the foods that feed it the most, including: bread, wheat, gluten, sugar, cheese, and alcohol. You can Google candida and find out tons more information. This blog is just to share a bit of what we have specifically experienced, in hopes that we raise awareness as to the importance of probiotics and maintaing a healthy gut. Probiotics are a good idea even if you are not on antibiotics. Find out what is right for you. Ask your doctor questions, do your own research, and discover for yourself. A healthy gut is key to overall health.
As this journey continues, we will share recipes and dishes that we feel helps our health and stifles candida. (At this very moment, the author is sipping ginger and tumeric tea for its anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properites! Amazing!)
Thank you for reading. Feel free to ask any questions or comment on this, or any of the blogs you read here at MANMAKER SPORTS. We want you to be healthy, happy, and Become Your Best.
Check out the picture below of our healthy and totally delicious breakfast from our trip in Italy. Notice there are no sweets, cakes, or croissants. We wanted 'em, but, enjoyed a protein and veggie rich breakfast instead! Thanks to a little Hemp milk and double espresso, we were in love!
